EmpowerHER is a transnational Erasmus+ initiative that unites young people from Greece, Romania and Bulgaria in a shared mission: to advance gender equality, civic participation and youth empowerment across Europe.

In a world where gender-based stereotypes and inequalities still shape daily experiences, EmpowerHER was created to transform awareness into action and empower youth to lead meaningful change. The project emerged from a simple but powerful question shared among passionate youth workers and organizations across Europe:
“What if we gave young people the tools and the confidence to lead the change toward equality themselves?”

From that vision, EmpowerHER was born — a project founded on courage, collaboration and the belief that equality is not just a dream, but a shared responsibility. Behind every young woman who dares to speak up, every young man who stands for fairness, and every young person who challenges stereotypes, there is the power of education, dialogue and empathy. EmpowerHER brings these forces together, creating spaces where youth voices can grow stronger and actions can inspire lasting social impact.

Through innovative non-formal learning, experiential workshops, simulations and open policy dialogues, the project equips young participants with essential leadership, communication and advocacy skills. It empowers them to understand how democratic systems work, how policies are shaped, and how they themselves can become active agents of change in their communities. EmpowerHER believes that genuine equality begins with participation — and that young people, when given the tools and trust, can influence institutions, challenge injustices and reimagine the future of Europe.

The project connects young citizens and decision-makers through an inclusive process that encourages open dialogue and collaboration. By facilitating cooperation between youth, NGOs, educators and local authorities, EmpowerHER ensures that equality is not simply discussed, but practiced — becoming a lived experience shared by all genders.

EmpowerHER stands for equality, respect and youth leadership. It aims to cultivate a generation of young Europeans who are empathetic, informed and motivated to lead with integrity. Through its series of activities — from leadership training and policy simulations to advocacy initiatives and social campaigns — the project inspires youth to become ambassadors of equality within their communities and beyond.

The story of EmpowerHER is also a story of unity. It brings together diverse voices and experiences from three European countries, combining cultural richness with a common purpose: to build a Europe where everyone, regardless of gender, background or identity, has equal opportunities to participate and thrive.

EmpowerHER contributes directly to the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027, promoting youth participation, inclusion and equality as essential pillars of democracy. It also advances European Youth Goal #5 – Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities for All, and aligns with Youth Goal #9 – Space and Participation for All, ensuring that every young person feels seen, heard and valued.

At its core, EmpowerHER is not just a project — it is a movement. A movement driven by young people who dare to imagine a more equal and inclusive world, and who are ready to make that vision a reality. By giving them the knowledge, confidence and voice to engage with policymakers, EmpowerHER turns learning into leadership and leadership into long-term impact.

Gender equality is not only a women’s issue — it is a human issue, a matter of justice and shared responsibility. EmpowerHER champions the idea that equality benefits everyone: it strengthens communities, enriches democracy and builds a Europe that reflects the values of fairness, respect and solidarity.
